Marty Brennaman says 'no mas'

Ran into Reds radio announcer Marty Brennaman today. You remember Marty. He's the guy who ripped into the Cubs fans who threw multiple baseballs onto the field after Adam Dunn hit a monster homer at Wrigley Field last month. Brennaman said on the air those kinds of Cubs fans make others in baseball root against the Cubs. He also said the Cubs would find a way to screw things up in the NL Central. I asked Marty today if he wanted to go on the record and talk about his comments and the aftermath. He politely declined, although he made it clear he was not talking about all Cubs fans. Brennaman apparently also has some Reds players upset at him for some pointed on-air comments about the club's poor play. This happens with Marty from time to time. Like him or not, he's a guy who speaks his mind. In other developments, Cubs third baseman Aramis Ramirez took a few "soft-toss" swings this afternoon but said his left wrist still is too sore to allow him to play. Maybe tomorrow. The Reds' Ken Griffey Jr. originally was a lineup scratch because of the death of a close friend. However, he went to Reds manager Dusty Baker and put himself back into the lineup. Griffey is sitting at 597 home runs.
