Say what you want about the White Sox, but give them credit for always being interesting.
Which leads us to … “The Most Interesting Man in the World!”
Familiar with his work?
He’s that fictitious Dos Equis pitchman, and I count myself as a fan of his humorous TV and radio commercials.
So are the Sox.
After Tuesday night’s rain-delayed 3-2 win over the Cubs, I spotted Gordon Beckham putting a life-size cutout of the MIMITW in Paul Konerko’s locker.
“It’s from my godfather,” Beckham said. “Listen how Paulie answers the first question.”
I didn’t hear the exact question because there were too many bodies and cameras, but I did hear Konerko’s reply: “That’s a very interesting question.”
Beckham tore off laughing, and somehow, Konerko kept it together and answered the rest of the questions in a normal manner.
When PK was done, he gave me the scoop.
“We’ve been wanting to do this, but somebody stole (the cutout) and then we were losing,” Konerko said. “But when we win, the guy who has a big game gets the cutout in his locker. If it’s Jake (Peavy) tomorrow, he gets it and he has to say, ‘That’s a very interesting question’ on the first one.”
Funny stuff, and hope you enjoyed it.
