Saturday’s Arlington Million also marks nearly 70 days that gambling legislation has been held in limbo ... passed by the legislature but not yet on the governor’s desk.
As Gov. Pat Quinn stays mum on his plans, those in the horse racing industry have taken part in Arlington Park’s letter-writing campaign urging Quinn to sign the legislation Arlington owner Richard Duchossois calls a “shot in the arm” for allowing slots at racetracks.
If you’re heading to the track for the big race this weekend, you’ll also
spot big booths at each entrance where more letters can be collected to ship off to the governer.
