Kane aiming to play in preseason
Patrick Kane said Monday he'll get the splint he now wears on his broken left wrist removed Sept. 15, which is two days before the official first day of training camp practice.
Of the seven exhibition games the Hawks are scheduled to play, Kane would like to participate in four of them.
“I get the splint off the 15th so after that I should be able to pretty much do everything,” Kane said. “I've been skating and working out, obviously, but for a while I couldn't go full equipment with the cast so once I got that off the got into full equipment.
“You always want to be out there at practice. I always believed training camp was a big of the year for myself to get regular for the regular season so it's definitely something you want to use.”
Kane gets to take the splint off five times a day for exercises. He still is not able to shoot pucks while on the ice.
“The biggest thing is range of motion,” Kane said. “Right now we're still pretty early in the process and you don't want to take any steps backwards.”
Kane underwent surgery July 19 after aggravating a wrist problem he first suffered in the second to last game of the regular season at Detroit.

So, did Kaner lose all the muscle be built up before July 19th while working out?
Tim:
Though I almost never commented I always appreciated the info provided here. Sorry that your boss has overestimated the fair pricing of the product.
Good luck in the future from another old NIU guy.

Dollar Bill is alive and well.....working at the DH!
This new DH scheme sounds like something he would come up with!
Tim
FYI.. I'll will pick up the DH during lunch once in awhile just to check in on your Blackhawks articles. But most of the time I may be online reading Kuc's column for free more than not.
Shame about the online charge. Best of luck to you Tim.
And how long do you think it will be until Mr. Kuc's employers start charging for on-line access?
That's where the future is going, and it should. We've been spoiled in the past 10 years, being able to basically surf every newspaper and magazine in the country - world? - for free: at some point, they have to figure out how to best generate revenues.
Problem is, now we have to choose which ones are of most benefit to us.
Not sure how long Dave, but I'll have to go straight to the Hawks site or another news site if it happens. I don't exactly feel "spoiled" by my ISP charging for access to the internet. I feel the same about cable service as well. Let's just hope Comcast Sportsnet or other channels don't consider us "spoiled" and make their channels pay per view.
No Olympics and a short post season run last year should have everybody relatively healthy (Kane?) coming into the new season. And with the energy guys and grit they bring will no more getting pushed around. Should be very entertaining hockey to watch.
I thought football would pacify me until the season started but it is just too slow a game. Im amped up and can not wait for the season to start!!
Does anyone know if Direct TV's hockey package will provide any pre-season games?
GO HAWKS!
Looking forward to the season.
Would love to see Kane get to the 100 point plateau he was hoping for last year. They should all be hungry for fantastic seasons individually and the team as a whole. Maybe he can be Toews set-up man to start the year, seeing as Toews always starts off slow and then Toews can start setting Kane up 2 weeks into the campaign, when Kane's wrist should be back to normal.
