Former Conant High School basketball star and Loyola University guard Geoff McCammon is on his way to a professional career in Europe. McCammon has signed a contract to play for MIA Tbilisi in the Republic of Georgia, where he will be a teammate of former UIC star Robo Kreps.
McCammon, a Roselle native and the 2007 Daily Herald All-Area Cook County honorary captain, led Loyola at 14.4 points a game last year and made a single-season school record 85 3-pointers. He was named the Horizon League's Sixth Man of the Year. McCammon averaged 8.9 points in his career and is sixth in career 3s at Loyola with 143.
McCammon led Conant to the Class AA supersectional in 2007 after an impressive rise from not playing much as a freshman or sophomore. One of his finest performances came in a victory over St. Joseph his senior year against future Ohio State star and NBA player Evan Turner and future Illinois standout Demetri McCamey.
