Bulls guard C.J. Watson revealed via Twitter message that he had a surgical procedure done on his foot Thursday.
Here's the message, with puncutation added, "Just had successful surgery by @weilforfeet, best in the business. Rest up, then back to getting better this summer and get ready for next year."
The procedure to correct plantar fascitis was performed at the Weil Foot, Ankle and Orthopedic Institute.
The Bulls characterized the surgery as minor. Nothing was said late in the season about Watson having a foot injury, though coach Tom Thibodeau mentioned a few times that Watson was playing through some pain.
After taking over at starting point guard for Derrick Rose, Watson shot just 24 percent from the field in the first-round playoff loss to Philadelphia. The Bulls have the option of keeping Watson at $3.7 million next season or letting him go.
