NBA free agent update -- July 9

Plenty of names left on the free agent list, but not many stars. The teams with a chance to be players are Dallas and Indiana, if it wisely chooses not to match Portland's offer to Roy Hibbert. O.J. Mayo and Chris Kaman will probably looking hard at those teams.
Tim Duncan is obviously not leaving the Spurs. Antawn Jamison has talked about returning to his hometown and playing for the Bobcats. J.R. Smith will likely re-sign with the Knicks. Not sure about Lou Williams, who was set free by the Sixers. Elton Brand won't be a true free agent, since teams with cap room can make bids once he's amnestied.
There was talk Sunday of a Dwight Howard trade to Brooklyn, but the Nets would need a third team to take on Kris Humphries, with Cleveland mentioned as a possibility. Humphries became infamous for marrying a reality TV star, but he's shown remarkable improvement the last couple years. I'd think some team would take him on for nothing of consequence in return.
Talk of the Celtics being hot on the trail of Courtney Lee was odd, since Boston used its available space and would need to work a sign and trade.
Again, these are reported figures of verbal agreements. Nothing can be official until Wednesday....
