Congrats to "Bogie"
My disappointment of the Sox getting KO'd in 4 games by the Rays (maybe they still are the Devil Rays, 6-6-6 runs in all their wins) was tempered by the fact they lost to a better team and also seem to have a lot of quality people in the organization. One of them is former Buffalo Grove star Tim Bogar, who had a nine-year big-league career and is in his first year with the Rays after a successful stint as a minor league manager.
Bogar has a unique coaching/scouting position where he is on the field during pregame and then scouts the Rays and opposition from the press box during the game. During this summer for a feature story, Bogar was tremendously accomodating with his time discussing the various challenges of his new job and how it was going. There wasn't one hint of "big league" or a rush to get this done with from him.
Hopefully Bogar helps the Rays continue their amazing story and eventually realizes his dream of managing in the bigs.
