Pro-gay rights group backs Biggert:

A Super PAC created by one prominent Republican to help nudge party candidates towards backing gay marriage has announced plans to invest in three House races, on of them in our backyard.

American Unity, launched by New York hedge fund executive Paul Singer earlier this year, will advertise in the 11th District House race, where Hinsdale Republican Judy Biggert is making a bid against former Democratic Congressman Bill Foster, of Naperville.

Foster supports gay marriage, but has stated that the economy is a priority in this election.

Biggert, of Hinsdale, has backed the repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell, as well as anti-hate crimes legislation, and opposed amendments reaffirming the Defense of Marriage Act, which defines marriage as between one man and one woman.

No word yet, from the group, on how much they plan to spend in the race.
