Whip it good
As Democrats prepared for breakfast Tuesday morning in Charlotte, state Rep. Linda Chapa LaVia of Aurora was already hoping to be named the delegation's whip - a spot that comes with the responsibility of making sure the rest of the delegates are where they're supposed to be when they're supposed to be there.
"It's a miserable experience because you don't get to do anything," she said.
Still, she wanted to do it and was named whip today. Chapa LaVia arrived at breakfast wearing a Cubs jersey with her name and the number 83 - the number of her House district.
"I think the only reason I wear this is because (House Speaker Michael Madigan) is a Sox fan," she said.
Chapa LaVia was her normal energetic self, saying Illinoisans should already be trying to fundraise for President Obama's eventual presidential library, hopefully, she says, in Hyde Park.
Hawaii is apparently also vying for it.
"Why don't we put it in Aurora?" said delegate Mark Guethle who is, as you may have guessed, from North Aurora.
