The notebook: Clinton observations

People in Charlotte haven't stopped talking about Bill Clinton's speech last night.

If you listened very, very carefully, there were a couple points of interest to Illinoisans - besides that whole nominate a resident for president thing.

Let us know if you noticed others, but here's my favorite.

Clinton praised President Barack Obama's appointing of a few Republicans to his cabinet. One of them us Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood, a longtime congressman from Peoria.

Guess who presided over the Clinton impeachment hearings in the U.S. House.

Why, that'd be then U.S. Rep. Ray LaHood.

What a difference a decade makes.
