I still think the AL Central is going to be decided the final series of the regular season.
The White Sox wrap up with three games at Cleveland (Oct. 1-3) and the Tigers close with three at Kansas City.
As we sit here at U.S. Cellular Field this morning awaiting the Sox-Tigers makeup game necessitated by last Thursday’s rainout, one team has a definite edge.
The White Sox.
If the Sox can beat Detroit this afternoon at U.S. Cellular Field, they’d own a 3-game lead with 16 to play.
The Tigers have an easier schedule the rest of the way - 3 games vs. Oakland, 6 games vs. Minnesota and 7 games vs. Kansas City. The White Sox play 3 vs. Kansas City, 3 vs. the Angels, 4 vs. Tampa Bay and 6 vs. Cleveland.
I’ll take the Sox, but a tiebreaker might be needed to get them into the playoffs.
The Tigers have better overall talent, nut it just hasn’t happened for them this season.
How do you see the AL Central playing out?
