Mortal Kombat on the Kane County Board
Kerri Branson, a Democratic candidate for Kane County Board, was the model for the character Sonya in a "Mortal Kombat" video game, gaming blog Kotaku reports today.
Branson, who faces Republican Andrew Frasz in the race, also appeared in the 1990s classic "NBA Jam," the blog reports, and began playing Sonya in "Mortal Kombat 3."
The Mortal Kombat series is a fighting game that began in the 1990s and was controversial then for being violent. From Kotaku:
Branson's issues are farmland preservation and children's health initiatives and not, say, tossing her opponents around or slamming them into the ground using only her legs.
We think this justifies spending some time reading video game blogs at work. You know, to learn about candidates.
