Edgar to stump for Mathias

Former Gov. Jim Edgar will be in Wheeling Wednesday to show support for Republican state Rep. Sidney Mathias of Buffalo Grove.
Mathias is locked in a tough election battle with Democratic state Sen. Carol Sente of Vernon Hills for a seat in the Illinois House.
We're told Edgar is doing a fly-around through Illinois to back a handful of Republican candidates Wednesday. So while it's not unusual for a Republican to back another Republican, Edgar has apparently made Wheeling one of the places he wanted to publicly show support for a candidate.
Mathias and Sente are fighting for a seat in the 59th House District, which includes parts of Wheeling, Buffalo Grove and Mount Prospect and runs north to Vernon Hills and Waukegan.
