Mulligan backs Moylan again
Republican State Rep. Rosemary Mulligan has put her name on another letter backing Democratic Des Plaines Mayor Marty Moylan for Illinois House. This time, it's apparently targeting senior voters.
Here's part of the letter:
I’m supporting Marty Moylan because he is a leader who will work for seniors in our community and carry on my commitment to safe neighborhoods and fiscal responsibility.
This is in addition to a letter she signed earlier focused mainly on abortion.
Moylan is running against Susan Sweeney of Park Ridge for a seat in the Illinois House. Sweeney shot back earlier this week about the first letter.
"I will continue to run a fact-based campaign focused on bringing fiscal responsibility to our state, even if career politicians are intent on lying about my positions and distracting voters from their record of higher taxes, more debt, and job losses,” she said.
In a very tight, high-stakes race like this one, Mulligan's backing could mean something. Cook County GOP Chairman Aaron Del Mar this week called for her to resign her post as a Republican committeeman.
Mulligan lives in the district and tried to run for re-election. But she didn't get enough signatures to appear on the primary ballot, and as a result, House Republican Leader Tom Cross backed Sweeney to challenge Moylan.
