Be careful what you wish for
With the election over, attention turns to what the new-look government is going to do. We gave you a taste of that this morning.
One perspective comes from state Sen. Dan Duffy, a Lake Barrington Republican. The day after the election is all about analyzing the resounding victories of House Speaker Michael Madigan and Senate President John Cullerton picking up seats throughout the suburbs on the way to huge majorities in Springfield.
The state, though, remains stuck with billions of dollars in debt and unpaid bills that aren't likely to go away in a snap. So the benefits of victories for Democrats like Madigan on Election Day are maybe less clear.
"But what did he win?" Duffy said.
