Quigley: Debt ceiling showdown like 'Groundhog Day'
"I feel like Bill Murray in 'Groundhog Day,' I've been there before,"
5th District Congressman Mike Quigley quipped on the upcoming debt ceiling showdown.
The Chicago Democrat, who is just beginning his third term in Congress, made the remarks at a City Club of Chicago lunch Monday, among the area's business elite.
Quigley, after describing colleagues in the past waiting until there were enough votes "so they could afford to vote no," called on Congress to "find the urgency of now, to address the problems that can't be solved in a lame duck session or last minute shuttle diplomacy."
Thanks to the 2010 redistricting process, Quigley's new 5th Congressional district includes quite a bit of suburban territory, including Elmhurst, Franklin Park, LaGrange Park and Schiller Park. Those boundaries became effective this month. And so, expect to be hearing a lot more about him on these pages.
