Not seeing much Friday night light
It's one of the things that's always bugged me about the football playoffs since the Wednesday-Saturday, first-second round format was abandoned in the mid-90s. So many teams wind up playing on Saturday afternoons and nights and there are hardly any Friday night games.
Look at this week - only 8 of the 64 second-round games are on Friday night. And once you play a couple of games on Saturday, it's pretty rare anyone goes back to a Friday and gives up an extra day of prep time. Prospect did in its 2001 and 2002 7A title runs - playing second-round and quarterfinal games on Saturdays (the last two quarters out of necessity because Buffalo Grove didn't have lights at the time) and its semifinals on Fridays.
It's a shame because Friday nights ARE high school football - very, very limited competition from the colleges and other HS sports, unlike Saturdays, which are filled up with college football and all sorts of other sports.
I'll be heading to Streamwood this Friday night for Fremd-Bartlett and Saturday for an early evening Warren-Schaumburg matchup.

How could # 81 wide reciever not be named to the all conference team? As I recall he had a fantistic season. I believe the coach recommends players to the all conf team. What has he been watching?
