About time for Pilote and Maggie

Retiring jersey No. 3 in honor of Pierre Pilote and the late Keith Magnuson is something the Hawks should have done a long time ago.
Give credit to Rocky Wirtz and John McDonough for realizing this and making happen the ceremony that will take place before Wednesday's game against Boston.
Pilote was a Hall of Fame defenseman and the backbone of those great early 1960s Hawks teams that were more than just Bobby Hull and Stan Mikita.
Pilote won three straight Norris Trophies from 1963-65 and was a puck-rushing defenseman and great passer in an era when those guys didn't exist on the blue line.
What can I say about Keith Magnuson that hasn't already been said. Nobody loved the Hawks more or did more for his friends and teammates. Maggie's charity work was unmatched. He would go anywhere to help people as a representative of the Blackhawks.
Anyone lucky enough to meet Keith Magnuson will never forget him. I remember after a Hawks sponsored event that took place in the parking lot at old Soldier Field, Maggie staying long after everyone had left to play ball hockey with my son and daughter. We still have the stick Maggie gave my son that day and the photos of him with the kids.
Maggie's death on Dec. 15, 2003 in car accident was a terrible day in the history of the Hawks. But Wednesday night will be a time to celebrate a great man.

Pilote

Three straight Norris trophies for Pilote! Very impressive for a guy who was 17 before he played his first organized hockey game. Pierre was a total prince of a guy at this summer's Convention, and was a solid citizen back in the Hawks heyday, earning a sterling reputation with the fans. Be sure to cheer loudly for him tonight. As Tim states above, this is LONG overdue.

Maggie

Tim-
Great piece, and great memories.....doesn't surprise me one bit that Maggie was the last one to leave and he touched your family in such a way that is mostly unheard of with today's sports "stars". I have a stick signed by Maggie, as well as the entire '74 squad, and you'll never find it on ebay....I want my son to know about this terrific person, teammate, competitor, and father, and how much he loved being a Blackhawk.
